Daring To Dream

But that’s the way the river flows, right? And not like I’m complaining, anyway. When you find something you like to do, it’s the kind of work that feels…really good.

Anyway, in this entry, I thought I’d intro my Mangaka dream by sharing a few failed comic ideas.

TBR

Short for “The Baka Rangers”. And, sure, “Baka Rangers” may already be taken, but this comic is about “THE Baka Rangers”. But just in case we can’t skate past copyright with that, we’re shortening it down to TBR.

It’s basically a team of three eleven year olds who are complete idiots…but somehow, become heroes. It’s a comedic adventure thing that I’ve been wanting to do, but I’m so critical on the story, that I’ve restarted it over and over.

It’s hard not to be critical when every character in the story is based on a person in real life; and a good handful of those real life people will be reading.

Bad Juju

A girl named Vala always thought it was apart of her imagination, but she soon finds out that the shadow creatures she sees are real. They turn out to be human negativity; and although they aren’t able to physically harm normal humans, they can influence humans to do the worse things. Luckily, as Vala finds out, there’s another type of influence to counter this.

…At first, I was happy cuz I thought it was so original. But now that I look at what I’ve got down so far, it sounds like a terrible rip-off of Bleach.

It was supposed to be the darker turn from TBR, as there will be gore and more drama, but…. Well, I don’t wanna make a terrible Bleach rip-off.

Superhero

Tynan is a Source; one who sells (sometimes first having to retrieve) information for a living. Although her talents can be used elsewhere, she chooses to remain in this field to keep in contact with a favorite client: one she calls a Superhero.

Joining her are Utsuki (a bonafied ninja) and Clare (who describes herself as “merely a tool of God”), two who have connections with associates of that same person.

I just wanted a unique, somewhat plotless take on love. So, yeah, in a way, it’s a love story; but romance is something that is not given in great detail here.

It’s also supposed to be a full series homeage to a certain anime franchise. (If you know me, you know which one.)

This one was actually planned to be serialized after Bad Juju, but before Superhero. But I’m so transfixed on the main character, that the other characters’ stories are neglected and ugly. And that shall not do.

Oh, well, though. I guess with TBR still in the works, I got a lotta leeway time.
