On the voice acting gig…. Yeah, now, I have about twenty days. Oh, but my computer time is limited to about…five hours per day. Even less when you count the fact that I need an empty house for there to be no background noise.
…I am sooo lucky Rana’s role isn’t too significant. I have only 10 lines, and barely above 100 words in total. If I manage my time correctly, I should be just fine.
I also have an I-Search Paper draft due on Wednesday, an MRI scan on Wednesday, need to enroll in classes to get first pick on Wednesday, probably gonna have an ass load of math homework on Wednesday, and I still have my Art Final to work on. Eep.
These next couple weeks are definitely gonna fly by….
Oh, but here~. Voice sample.
This…is probably Rana speaking to me for doing such a shitty job on her voice. It’s fitting, no?

One month left. Are my recordings done? Oh, no. Is my Rana voice perfected? Not at all. Oh, boy. Do I have a back-up plan? More or less. More like just a plan-plan. But it’s better than nothing.
I know my voice is barely near to where it should be, so I decided I’d just do it.
I’ll just pull through with it and do the most Rana-ish voice I’ll have. Except, I’ll get my recordings done early. (…At least, as early as I can manage with my time now cut in half; due date is December 23rd. …OMG THASREALSOON.) I’ll get it done as perfect as I can as soon as I possibly can.
And once I get my lines done early and turn them over to Yi, I’ll explain to him the issue (the fact that my voice is too deep for Rana and since I’m inexperienced, my range is none too broad), and let him judge whether to use my recordings or go ahead to hire another actress.
That way, I’ll at least know I tried.
o____O;;;
RECORDINGS. GO.

Well, actually, things seem to be going pretty smoothly in terms of the whole The Meek gig. I’m getting much better with Rana’s voice. The only problem is the the ECHO..cho…o….
My unportable computer sits right where the hallway opens up to the front of the house and downstairs. So unless I record quietly, there’s always an echo in my recordings. But this becomes a problem when I have a particularly passionate line. (And Rana’s full of fire, so…yeah, it’s a constant problem. XD)
I think when the time comes that I record the final versions, I’ll just stretch the mic chord to the master bedroom and record there with a thick blanket draped over the mic ‘n’ me. But right now, I’m just working out perfecting Rana’s voice and my acting.

One of the fruits of today’s labor:
XD
Well, at least Rana’s voice is getting acceptable now.

Still livin’ the dream. Damn close enough to it, at least XD. Right after Yi sent me the background info, my schedule got unbelievably hectic. Great big art project due, math homework in gratuitous amounts, a 1500-word essay, a job interview, and, of course, the big brain scan.
While I’m very tempted to tell Yi to give another actress a shot, I also know that now I have much better control over my time, and I can do this.
The only problem is that Rana’s voice.

I forgot to mention in the last post how I got an email containing !!!SUPERSECRET!!! BACKGROUND INFO on the project regarding my being casted as Rana.
…Okay, so not totally !!!SUPERSECRET!!!; it was all just extra tidbits on where Rana’s coming from to help me understand her more XD.

OMG I GOT THE ROLE. OMG. OMG. I GOT IT. I GOT RANA. I’M RANA.
(Well, okay, so last time I probably hinted that I wasn’t enthused to be casted as Rana, but I say it’s better than nothing!)
…And now there are probably people wondering why I wasn’t aiming for Rana in the first place. I mean, we’re the same age, so wouldn’t it be easiest if I could be someone I felt more connected to?
…
About that.

Looks like I’m being seriously considered for the role of Rana in an animation called The Meek.
I’ve already mentioned that I auditioned for three roles for it, crappy cellphone recordings included. I was actually thinking my voice was most suited for the part of Lethy, but tried out for Rana and Kid Luca for the sake of argument.
And, see….

So, we’ve heard exactly how crappy my cellphone can be. I think we’re just about prepared to face the totally amazingawesomegatacularity that is my new mic. If you guys want one, too, it’s called the Alesis USB Podcasting Kit. And, mmh, it’s sososo good.
Extra tidbits:
1) It comes with headphones and a stand
2) There’s a volume adjuster on the mic
3) The headphones’s connecter-tip-thing is unscrewable to fit your computer
4) It’s over 80USD, more or less. But I got it for free. (THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUYI. <3)
But, fine. What you wanna know is how it sounds, right? (Why am I writing as if someone is reading this?) Sit tight and keep those cellphone auditions close in memory. Cuz here it is.

My new mic (EEK EEK EEEEEK) arrived yesterday afternoon. The whole neighborhood knows that. I was shrieking as I ran outside to collect it as the UPS truck made its escape drove away.
Now, before we jump right into showing off my Alesis mic (omg…it’s all black with a blue logo and light-colored metally things), it’s a good idea to make a big farewell to what I first started off with:
Recordings from my cellphone.
Lads ‘n’ ginies, it’s a great embarrassment honor to now show off my best voice auditions via cellphone recordings! (The ones that I haven’t showed so far, yet, at least.)

My latest audition was for a fandub of an anime called Special A. I tried out for Akira Toudou, since I haven’t perfected a “boy” voice yet, and Akira seemed to be the only girl my quirky voice could ever have a chance at suiting.
And still, Akira’s the highest voice I’ve ever attempted, methinks! I spent, like, a good time gliding around high-pitches to prep for big the try-out.
The recruiter ended up not liking it anyway. Oops.
